About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Deckhand to join our team at Young Guns Fisheries Limited. As a Deckhand, you will play a crucial role in the operation of our fishing vessels, ensuring the safe and efficient catching and processing of fish and other marine life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and Maintenance of Fishing Gear
    • Prepare nets, lines, and other fishing tackle for use on the vessel
    • Repair and maintain fishing gear and other deck equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Catching and Processing of Fish
    • Operate fishing gear to catch fish and other marine life
    • Clean, sort, and pack fish in ice and stow catch in hold
  • Deck Maintenance and Safety
    • Clean deck surfaces and fish hold to maintain a safe and healthy working environment
    • Ensure all equipment and gear is properly secured and stored
Work Environment

As a Deckhand, you will work in a fast-paced environment with varying weather conditions, including outdoors, in/on water, and in confined spaces. You will be required to handle heavy loads and work in physically demanding conditions, including standing for extended periods and bending, crouching, and kneeling.
