Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Dietitian to join our team at the Obesity Clinic Primary Care Surrey. As a key member of our interprofessional team, you will provide assessment, consultation, and nutrition education to clients and staff, while also contributing to the development of research-based nutrition programs and resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient/client screening, nutritional assessment, and education to Obesity Clinic clients/families, including home visits, virtual appointments, and in-person consultations.
  • Provide consultation to staff regarding clients with high-risk nutritional needs and develop comprehensive shared patient/client plans in collaboration with the interprofessional team.
  • Discuss clinical findings with clients/families, develop action plans, and set goals directed at clinical needs, self-management, self-care, and improved health-related quality of life.
  • Assess learning needs and plan, implement, and evaluate nutrition education programs for Obesity Clinic staff and clients.
  • Provide health counseling to clients/families, including education, self-management, self-monitoring, and wellness/health promotion/prevention through a combination of clinic, telephone, or home visits.
  • Maintain clinical records, statistical information, and nutrition resources for staff, while collaborating with other healthcare professionals to facilitate the flow of information within the primary and community care network.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition from an accredited educational institution, plus successful completion of a community nutrition or dietetics internship program as approved by Dietitians of Canada (DOC).
  • Registration with the College of Dietitians of BC and a valid BC Driver's License.
  • Two years recent related experience in a community setting focused on medical/surgical weight management, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments and provide care through therapeutic interventions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to promote client-focused care, including sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences.
  • Ability to independently manage and prioritize clients with diverse cultures and preferences.
