MacEwan University is renowned for its commitment to delivering exceptional nursing education, equipping graduates with the skills necessary to excel in nursing practice and beyond. The Faculty of Nursing comprises five distinct departments, offering courses associated with various nursing credentials, including the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing.
The Department of Human Health and Science within the Faculty of Nursing is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about advancing the field of psychiatric nursing.
The Department specializes in providing courses that highlight the significance of scientific principles and health practices within the nursing discipline. Faculty members are recognized experts in their respective fields, integrating foundational knowledge about nursing standards and practices.
This role necessitates licensure with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). The primary focus will be on instructing courses in Psychiatric Nursing, with potential teaching locations including various campuses and online platforms. Candidates should be prepared for possible travel and must possess the essential skills and competencies required in the nursing profession, engaging in both classroom and clinical environments. Additional certifications may be necessary for teaching in clinical settings.
Qualified applicants will possess a baccalaureate degree in Psychiatric Nursing, alongside a graduate degree in Psychiatric Nursing or a related discipline. Preference will be given to those with doctoral qualifications. Candidates should have substantial educational background in Psychiatric Nursing, relevant licensure, and practical experience. Expertise in a specific mental health area and a history of undergraduate teaching in nursing are essential. A developing or established research program in related fields is also preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to nurturing future nursing leaders and possess experience in curriculum development for health education.
