Position Overview

Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Healthcare Unit Coordinator

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Healthcare Unit Coordinator to become an integral part of our team. This position is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare services.

Responsibilities of the Healthcare Unit Coordinator include:

Collaborating within a team-oriented environment while executing clerical and receptionist duties to support patient care delivery. Prioritizing the needs of clients and their families above all other tasks. Performing a range of administrative functions such as: transcribing and processing medical orders, liaising with various departments to coordinate patient appointments and transport, arranging diagnostic tests and managing results, welcoming visitors, answering phone inquiries, and prioritizing requests. Organizing and maintaining patient records, facilitating admissions and discharges. Managing timekeeping responsibilities and compiling relevant statistics. Drafting and distributing a variety of technical and non-technical documents and reports. Keeping an inventory of office supplies and ensuring efficient filing systems are upheld.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Completion of Grade 12, knowledge of medical terminology, and graduation from an accredited Nursing Unit Clerk program. A minimum of one (1) year of recent, relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills & Competencies

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with others. Physical capability to perform the duties of the role. Proficiency in typing at least 40 words per minute. Strong organizational skills. Competence in operating related equipment. Familiarity with various computer software applications.

Additional Information

The work schedule, including days off and work area, may vary based on operational needs and relevant agreements. Successful candidates may be required to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
