Responsibilities- In addition to standard laboratory duties, the Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist in Transfusion Medicine serves as a key resource for laboratory technologists regarding technical challenges and related inquiries.
- This role involves prioritizing tasks, ensuring timely reporting of patient results, assuming Charge Technologist responsibilities as necessary, and leading daily problem-solving at the bench level.
- Must possess a valid practicing registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Transfusion Medicine setting is required.
- Advanced Certification in Transfusion Medicine or relevant advanced coursework is preferred. A degree in a related field is an asset.
- Recent participation in continuing education related to Transfusion Medicine is essential.
- Proficiency in laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office is necessary.
- Ability to provide advanced technical and theoretical support to laboratory staff.
- Demonstrated expertise in problem-solving at an advanced level.
- Experience in inventory management, including blood products and consumables.
- Familiarity with laboratory accreditation standards is required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Exhibit a positive and professional demeanor in a dynamic setting.
- Consistent attendance and commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Dedication to fostering a safe workplace by adhering to health and safety regulations and completing mandatory training.
