Job Summary

The City of Chilliwack is seeking a reliable and skilled Public Works Utility I to assist management in achieving efficient operation of the Operations Department. The successful candidate will perform a variety of non and semi-skilled tasks associated with labourer duties, including cutting grass, flagging, loading equipment, repairing fences, cleaning streets, removing garbage, and using manual tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform manual work and lift heavy objects
  • Recognize and rectify actual or potential safety hazards
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with other staff members
  • Work knowledge of tools, equipment, procedures, principles, and methods used in labourer work
Requirements
  • Grade 8 education with a minimum of two years experience in the labourer force
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid B.C. Driver's Licence
Working Conditions

The incumbent will work under general supervision and performance will be subject to review, inspection, and evaluation by the Supervisor III - Public Works.
