Join a purpose-driven team that is committed to achieving results within an inclusive and high-performing culture.

The Lead Manager, Strategic Procurement is tasked with overseeing organization-wide sourcing and project initiatives while collaborating closely with senior leadership across various business units and other procurement leaders. This role presents an opportunity to enhance existing processes aimed at centralizing and consolidating supplier selection across the organization, thereby fostering a competitive marketplace environment. The Lead Manager will consistently drive reductions in the overall costs associated with goods and services procured.

Is this position suitable for you? In this role, you will:

  • Establish and nurture relationships with business leaders to align with enterprise objectives, influence key stakeholders, and spearhead sourcing strategies while collaborating on procurement initiatives and projects.
  • Work alongside Business Unit and Operations leaders to gain a comprehensive understanding of critical business drivers and spending patterns, ensuring adequate support levels are achieved.
  • Deliver business value through the development of high-quality and cost-effective supplier relationships, while actively pursuing total cost of ownership (TCO) savings through leveraging organization-wide purchasing volume, strategic supplier partnerships, demand management, or indirect savings achieved by driving innovation and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the supply management process.
  • Oversee category management within and across the organization’s business segments, serving as a key contributor to a well-structured and evolving supplier management process.
  • Support the consistent application of procurement processes across various groups.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader organizational relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations within respective areas, ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of daily business controls to meet obligations regarding operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, and conduct risk.

Do you possess the skills that will enable you to excel in this role? We would be eager to collaborate with you if you have:

  • Exceptional stakeholder management abilities and comfort in engaging with senior leaders.
  • Knowledge of financial services and regulations, particularly how they apply to third-party relationships.
  • The capability to understand complex technical and financial matters and utilize them to inform the development of effective action plans and supplier strategies.
  • The ability to cultivate collaborative working relationships with global stakeholder groups, demonstrating superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in management, business, or a related field; a Master’s degree in business or a related field is an asset.
  • Over 5 years of progressive experience in sourcing.

What benefits can you expect?

  • A rewarding career trajectory with diverse opportunities for professional growth.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that significantly impact business line expansion.
  • A culture that fosters teamwork and cross-functional collaboration to achieve business objectives, valuing diversity of thought, background, and experience.
  • The chance to work with a highly motivated team dedicated to ensuring the organization can continue to deliver essential business services.
  • Ideal for individuals who are interested in both business analysis and preparedness, while also being able to respond swiftly to unpredictable events.

At Scotiabank, we value the unique skills and experiences each individual brings to the organization and are committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive and accessible environment for everyone.
