About the Role

The Commercial Banking Relationship Manager plays a crucial role in the success of Scotiabank's Commercial Banking division in Canada. This position is responsible for ensuring the execution of specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Promote the growth and profitability of the commercial banking portfolio in an assigned market area.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain a market profile in an assigned market area with both internal and external contacts.
  • Credit Management: Manage an assigned credit portfolio for authorizations up to $5MM at an acceptable level of risk.
  • Marketing Strategy: Develop and implement a marketing strategy to maximize business development opportunities for sustainable growth.
  • Sales Planning: Develop sales plans for prospects and existing customers.
  • Prospect Identification: Identify prospects/referrals from other internal/external networks.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze prospect lists and prioritize business development opportunities based on market data and customer analytics.
  • Product Partnerships: Partner with internal resources for non-credit related products.
  • Customer Referrals: Refer customers and prospects to the appropriate Commercial Banking segment and partners as appropriate.
  • Relationship Activities: Plan and complete relationship activities that generate sales opportunities and/or provide value to clients.
  • Market Awareness: Build and maintain an awareness of local market and general economic conditions.
  • Performance Environment: Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.

Requirements:

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in business or economics or work equivalency.
  • Experience: Previous work experience of at least 2 years or completion of the Bank's Training Program is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong sales/closing skills, Strong networking ability, Strong negotiation skills, Good credit skills, Strong communication and interpersonal skills, Strong relationship management skills, Strong knowledge of Bank's commercial lending and deposit products and services, and customer profitability model, in order to provide integrated financial solutions.
  • Language: The successful candidate will be required to be able to communicate in English in addition to French because they will be required to work closely with other groups from head office who operate primarily in English and will serve an English and French-speaking clientele frequently.
