Position Overview

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Stantec Consulting International Ltd., you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our built environment. Your expertise will guide the design and implementation of advanced electrical systems for a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage projects of diverse complexity and scale.
  • Assess, select, and specify electrical systems or products tailored to project needs.
  • Contribute to the design process from initial concepts through to detailed construction documentation.
  • Utilize Revit/BIM technologies to develop comprehensive models of electrical systems.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to engineers and technicians.
  • Facilitate project coordination meetings with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Engage in discussions with clients to understand project requirements and conduct value analysis.
  • Assist in defining and managing project scope, budget, staffing, and timelines.
  • Lead the creation and coordination of project specifications.
  • Perform calculations using standard software and proprietary tools.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques to specialized electrical components.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and ensure quality assurance on projects.
  • Contribute to the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical team.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and relevant building and energy regulations.
  • Experience in all phases of project documentation, including drawings and specifications.
  • Extensive understanding of electrical systems, methodologies, materials, and industry practices.
  • Familiarity with power studies, including short circuit, arc flash, and coordination analyses.
  • Proven ability to review the work of others for accuracy and completeness while managing project timelines.
  • Strong collaborative skills in a team environment, with a focus on innovative and critical thinking.
  • Thorough grasp of electrical engineering principles and effective communication of ideas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, and AutoCAD; experience with lighting modeling software is preferred.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent, with a Professional Engineer license in British Columbia.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

This role typically involves office-based work, with occasional field exposure to various environmental conditions.
