Job Summary

The City of Ottawa's Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is seeking a skilled Arts Instructor to design, teach, and evaluate creative arts programs for all ages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver arts programs in theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, and multi-media arts
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement arts programming
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive experience for participants
Requirements
  • University/college degree in Fine Arts, Art History, or education in one or more arts disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years of practicing and/or teaching experience in a related arts discipline
  • Previous experience working with all ages in an arts instructional setting
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training and High Five training courses
Competencies and Skills
  • Excellent knowledge of interpretive techniques, aesthetic and technical concepts, and handling of program materials
  • Working knowledge of general registration and visitor procedures
  • Knowledge of local arts organizations and school board curriculum
  • Working knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation and corporate/departmental policies and procedures
