About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Welder Specialist to join our team at Hooper Welding Enterprises Ltd. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for operating manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment to cut and shape metal materials.
  • Operate brakes, shears, and other metal shaping, straightening, and bending machines to prepare metal for welding.
  • Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing, and soldering equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Materials and Techniques
  • Work with a variety of metal alloys, including aluminum and stainless steel.
  • Apply various welding techniques, including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Plasma Arc Welding (PAW), and Submerged Arc Welding (SAW).
Equipment and Machinery Experience
  • Operate arc welding machines, butt or seam resistance welding machines, and gas welding machines.
Area of Specialization
  • Custom fabrication of metal parts and products.
  • Machinery or equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Shipbuilding and repair.
  • Pressure vessel fabrication.
  • Structural construction.
Work Environment
  • Work in a fast-paced fabrication environment with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced welders and fabricators to achieve project goals.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
  • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in welding and fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes.
  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques and materials.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
