Position OverviewThe Plant Manager is accountable for overseeing all aspects of operations in Chippawa, Canada, driving continuous enhancements in critical operational metrics such as Safety, Productivity, and Service while achieving all financial objectives of the plant.
The role involves managing comprehensive plant operations to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products globally while effectively minimizing costs, inventory, and waste. Key responsibilities encompass:
- Establishing initiatives for ongoing enhancement of customer service, product quality, process efficiency, and reduction of variable and fixed expenses, as well as inventory management.
- Maintaining systems to guarantee that the plant meets or surpasses corporate standards for Health, Safety, and Environment.
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives for HSE and Quality Assurance.
- Overseeing plant financial operations including budgeting, procurement, and capital expenditures.
- Planning and managing Human Resources functions, including ethical practices, workforce optimization, training, and performance assessments.
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering or material science is mandatory.
- A Master's degree is preferred (MBA, chemistry, materials science, engineering, etc.).
- Extensive management experience within the abrasive sector is preferred.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, leadership, and team-building capabilities.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes with the ability to recognize broad business challenges and formulate actionable plans.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- EHS Management: Oversee all critical aspects of EHS reporting and outcomes. Foster a culture aimed at proactively preventing and mitigating EHS risks.
- Production Management: Supervise all facets of plant operations, ensuring consistent advancements in on-time delivery, quality, production efficiency, costs, and inventory control.
- Personnel Management: Mentor, coach, and assess site personnel while cultivating a culture of continuous improvement.
- Capital Management: Direct all elements of capital planning and execution.
- Strategic Development: Formulate a Vision for the site to steer priorities and challenge existing norms.
