Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a Casual Transfer Station Attendant for our domestic garbage transfer locations. This role involves delivering excellent customer service to individuals visiting the station to dispose of waste and recyclables. The ideal candidate should be flexible and available for coverage during vacations and weekends as required.

Daily Responsibilities

The duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain positive public relations consistently
• Manage the opening and closing of access gates at the Transfer Station according to operational hours, ensuring all gates are secured outside of these hours
• Perform routine inspections of perimeter fences to detect unauthorized access, damage, or other issues
• Remove any unauthorized waste left at the entrance or other areas, including materials discarded outside of operational hours
• Direct traffic flow at the Transfer Stations, prioritizing public safety and adhering to the traffic management plan
• Oversee the placement of waste into containers and the compactor system as necessary
• Identify and remove any non-compliant materials from incoming loads
• Prevent unauthorized scavenging of waste, recyclables, or product stewardship materials by facility users
• Ensure all site buildings and grounds are maintained in a clean state, which may involve collecting and disposing of waste and litter, as well as performing winter maintenance tasks such as snow shoveling and sweeping

Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

• 1 to 2 years of experience in General Labor
• Proficiency in completing daily documentation
• A solid understanding of regional Occupational Health and Safety regulations and the ability to operate mobile equipment safely and efficiently
• A strong work ethic and the resilience to work in challenging weather conditions and environments
