About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Founding Data Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our data science team, you will play a critical role in helping Terminal and our customers understand and leverage large volumes of data. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Translating business requirements into data science capabilities
  • Designing methods to benchmark data quality across integrations, devices, and fleets
  • Developing statistical models to validate data quality and annotate anomalies for consumers
  • Developing models and aggregations to support internal and external analytics use cases, collaborating with engineering to implement in production
  • Researching, developing, and testing models to predict fleet risk and safety from telematics data
  • Designing and implementing data pipelines and infrastructure to support R&D and data analysis
  • Enabling objective decision-making across the company by democratizing data through dashboards and other analytical tools
  • Supporting customers developing telematics risk models by sharing best practices and insights from our data and research
Qualifications
  • 6+ years in data-focused roles, including 3+ years as a full-time data scientist
  • Proficiency with Python and working in a production coding environment
  • End-to-end experience with data, including pipeline development, modeling, querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization
  • Excellent communication skills when conveying complex concepts to diverse audiences
  • Preferred but not required: experience building data pipelines at TB-PB scale
  • Preferred but not required: experience with telematics or other geo-temporal data
Tech Stack
  • Data: You will be part of defining the core technologies used in our data platform
  • Backend: AWS serverless architecture deployed with SST framework, featuring:
    • Language: Node.js (TypeScript)
    • Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, EventBridge, Kinesis, and Step Functions
  • Frontend: Next.js deployed with SST framework and styled with Tailwind
  • Infrastructure as Code: SST and CDK
  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions
