Job Title: Director of DesignWe are seeking a highly experienced and creative Director of Design to lead our design team and drive the overall vision and strategic direction of our design department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of designers and drafters, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement innovative design strategies that align with our company's vision and uphold our reputation for exceptional timber frame homes.
- Engage directly with clients to understand their needs, translate their vision into functional and beautiful designs, and provide guidance throughout the design process.
- Oversee all design phases from conceptualization through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Review and approve design concepts, construction documents, and specifications to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to company standards.
- Champion sustainable and eco-friendly design practices, integrating green building technologies and materials to minimize environmental impact.
- Work closely with the engineering, sales, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution and delivery.
- Stay current with design trends, materials, and building technologies, continually bringing fresh ideas and perspectives to the team.
- Support business development efforts by participating in client presentations, project pitches, and representing the company at industry events.
- Diploma, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in residential design, with a strong portfolio of custom homes, ideally timber frame or sustainable architecture.
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing and developing high-performing design teams.
- Expertise in architectural design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong understanding of sustainable building practices and green certifications (LEED, Passive House, etc.).
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to inspire clients and teams.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Work with a passionate team that values creativity, craftsmanship, and sustainability.
- Lead the design of breathtaking homes that harmonize with their natural surroundings.
