Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Project Estimator to join our team. This role is pivotal in preparing precise and comprehensive cost estimates for welding, piping, and field service projects. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of welding and piping, along with CWB/TSSA inspection and certification standards. A keen eye for detail and experience in the fabrication and industrial sectors are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate accurate proposals in response to Requests for Quotations, focusing on welding, piping, and fabrication projects.
- Examine project specifications, blueprints, and related documentation to formulate time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Create concept sketches and scope documents for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project management, engineering, and field service teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide expert knowledge to clients and team members, ensuring projects are completed on budget and on schedule.
- Support and guide throughout the project lifecycle to maintain adherence to scope and budget.
- Contribute to the mechanical design review process with valuable insights.
- Develop a thorough understanding of our product line, preferred practices, and relevant industry standards.
- Conduct site visits with clients and project teams to gather field measurements and develop project scopes.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with clients to clarify project requirements and address any concerns.
- Present estimates and proposals to clients and stakeholders professionally.
- Maintain a professional demeanor in alignment with company values, including language, attire, and workmanship.
- Ensure a positive customer experience throughout all interactions.
- Be prepared for overtime and on-call duties as required by company policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of a college or university degree/diploma or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project estimating within the welding, piping, or metal fabrication industries.
- Strong understanding of CWB and TSSA regulations and applicable certification requirements.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Solid knowledge of material and labor costs, subcontractor pricing, and project scheduling.
- Experience with estimating software and tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy.
- Capable of multitasking and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with CAD software and other relevant design tools is an asset.
- Strong organizational, time management, and budget management skills.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
