Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring that all prescriptions are dispensed accurately and safely while providing pharmaceutical patient care, ensuring the highest level of therapeutic appropriateness for patients. With professional knowledge, experience, and a compassionate nature, the Pharmacist will bring a specialized approach to our team and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense prescriptions, including computer entry, triage of new orders, collation of data, and clinical reviews.
- Provide professional functions related to dispensing, including pharmaceutical care, patient counseling, professional opinions, liaising with other healthcare professionals, and documenting interventions and dialogue.
- Provide supervision and leadership in the dispensary while on duty.
- Evaluate the appropriateness of prescription orders, considering patient safety and legal requirements.
- Complete third-party adjudications necessary to complete prescriptions.
- Coordinate and supervise the non-sterile compounding and dispensing of drugs according to medication orders issued by authorized medical care providers and are responsible for the timely processing of medication orders and the distribution of medications.
- Blister pack checking and pouch packaging dispensing system checking.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect personal and organizational information at all times.
- Work collaboratively and support the efforts of team members.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Will to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction.
- Set high standards of performance for self and others.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Licensed and in good standing with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Expected to adhere to the Standards of Practice with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Participation in an on-call rotation.
- Experience with KROLL Pharmacy software is an asset.
- Injection Certified.
