Job Title: Pathology Assistant

Bluewater Health is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pathology Assistant to join our team. As a Pathology Assistant, you will play a critical role in the preparation and examination of tissue samples for diagnostic purposes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately describe the gross appearance of specimens and recognize their clinical significance.
  • Dictate gross descriptions and submit relevant tissue blocks for microscopic examination.
  • Participate in the performance of autopsies under the direction of a pathologist.
  • Act as a coach, mentor, and resource for new staff and students.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and complete continuing education requirements as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in Clinical Sciences required.
  • Graduate of a recognized Medical Laboratory Science Program required.
  • Graduate of a recognized Pathologist's Assistant course preferred.
  • Member of the American Association of Pathologist Assistants (AAPA) preferred.
  • Member of the Canadian Association of Pathologist Assistants (CAP) preferred.
  • Member of the College of Medical Laboratory Technology of Ontario (CMLTO) preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic proficiency in the use of computers required.
  • Recent experience as a Pathologist's Assistant preferred.
