Position Overview:

The CF-18 Non-Destructive Testing Technician plays a vital role in the In-Service Support of the Canadian CF-18 Fighter aircraft Program. This position is essential for ensuring the safety and reliability of aircraft through rigorous inspection and maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document non-conformities in accordance with established protocols.
  • Accurately draft and complete inspection reports and work orders.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled NDT inspections on aircraft and report findings to the Supervisor.
  • Perform NDT inspections for non-aircraft purposes as directed.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and assist as needed.
  • Maintain shop equipment and ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, particularly regarding radiation safety policies.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the work area in compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist in preparing technical and administrative reports as required.
  • Communicate supply needs to the section supply coordinator promptly.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma in aeronautics or a related field.
  • Certification from the Canadian Government Specification Board (CGSB).
  • Demonstrated Level II proficiency in various NDT inspection methods, including Liquid Penetrant, Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, X-Ray, and Ultrasound.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong understanding of CF-18 structure and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Forces aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and adaptable to new software systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to present ideas effectively.
