Job Summary:

The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Attendant to join our team on a part-time (.2) basis. As a key member of our housekeeping team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our patient care areas, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of patient care areas, including but not limited to, patient rooms, common areas, and equipment rooms
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including but not limited to, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and disinfecting
  • Operate various floor machines and equipment, including but not limited to, vacuum cleaners, mops, and disinfectant sprayers
  • Restock supplies and materials as needed
  • Collaborate with other housekeeping staff to ensure a smooth and efficient cleaning process
  • Report any maintenance or repair issues to the facilities department

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Previous cleaning experience, including dry mopping, wet mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and dusting in patient care areas
  • Knowledge of Infection Control practices and proper cleaning techniques
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job and work within environmental elements
  • Knowledge of the operation of various floor machines
  • Ability to understand and use computers and Microsoft programs
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, demonstrate teamwork skills, logical thinking, and self-motivation

Working Conditions:

  • Work will be performed in a fast-paced hospital environment
  • May be required to work varying shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends
  • May be required to work in areas with high levels of noise and activity

Salary Range: $25.629 to $25.984
