Job Title: Wellness Representative
Job Type: Temporary Long Term (Fixed Term) / Full time
Job Location: Edmonton, Alberta
The Wellness Representative plays a vital role in promoting a healthy and safe work environment at WCB Alberta. Reporting to the Team Lead, Corporate Wellness, this position works collaboratively with other Wellness Representatives and Disability Managers to design and implement preventative and early intervention programs aimed at reducing the number and duration of illness and injury claims.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct ergonomic assessments, both virtually and in-person, to identify potential hazards and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the Injury Prevention Program, ensuring it aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Work with employees to develop personalized plans using early intervention techniques and programs to manage illness or injury.
- Maintain effective communication and documentation with clients, ensuring timely and accurate updates on program progress.
- Contribute to the design, planning, and implementation of primary prevention programs, activities, events, trainings, and policies based on employee needs and data.
- Oversee the Fitness center, ensuring all equipment is in safe working order and assessing requests for upgrades and additions.
- Educate clients on the benefits of injury and illness prevention and early intervention, promoting a culture of wellness within the organization.
- Facilitate presentations for new employee orientation on ergonomics and injury prevention, incorporating updates and changes as needed.
Your Experience and Skills:
- Post-secondary education in Kinesiology or a therapist assistant program (physiotherapy assistant, OT assistant) or other related field, with two years' experience in the health and/or rehab industry or health promotion.
- Experience or knowledge of office ergonomics or kinesiology is beneficial.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety training regulations, including standard first aid, AED, and CPR, is an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks according to employee and department needs.
- Experience and demonstrated skill in communicating in a public setting, explaining prevention and early intervention to stakeholders, and demonstrating impact from primary prevention activities.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Equivalencies may be considered.

Salary: $51,649 to $57,402 per annum (Pay Grade 6)
This is a temporary, full-time position for approximately one year, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security clearance.
