About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Counsel, Litigation, Compliance, and Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal Affairs department at RONA Inc. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist various departments in litigation management, litigation prevention, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  2. Collaborate with the Chief Privacy Officer on matters related to privacy and data protection.
  3. Act as the lead on certain files or as a collaborator, providing clear and practical legal advice.
  4. Issue legal opinions based on facts and applicable law, ensuring proper risk management.
  5. Support internal clients in privacy impact assessments and perform legal and factual research.
  6. Monitor trends and make recommendations to ensure the company's compliance with laws and regulations.
  7. Manage files entrusted to external law firms.

Requirements

  1. Member of the Barreau du Quebec.
  2. 2 to 5 years of experience working in a private practice and/or in the legal department of a large company.
  3. Experience in litigation, dispute prevention, and dispute resolution.
  4. Knowledge in areas of law including general commercial and real estate litigation, consumer law, advertising law, competition law, construction law, and privacy and data protection law.
  5. Strong writing, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  6. Strong interest in legal and factual research.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Good business acumen and practical mind.
  9. Rigor, versatility, and sense of organization and priorities.
  10. Leadership, motivation, self-confidence, diplomatic, and professional attitude.
  11. Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiatives.
  12. Ability to work under pressure with a diverse cast of customers and effectively manage priorities and a large volume of projects.
  13. Client-oriented approach and team player.
  14. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
