Position Overview

As the Financial Reporting Manager, you will report directly to the Senior Manager of Financial Reporting & Consolidations. Your primary responsibilities will encompass ensuring the integrity of financial information, overseeing account management, reporting, and data governance, while also enhancing operational processes and developing internal control policies. You will play a vital role in ERP enhancements, controls, and procedural improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the month-end closing process, including the review and approval of journal entries and related schedules.
  • Work collaboratively with subsidiaries to guarantee timely and accurate financial reporting for both consolidated and legal entity statements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the efficient completion of year-end audits and reviews of financial documents.
  • Provide necessary audit support, including data requests and analyses related to annual external audits and other ad hoc audits.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Lead financial reporting initiatives, including the implementation of changes in accounting standards.
  • Engage in the acquisition accounting process to ensure ledger accounts are accurately updated for financial reporting and auditing purposes.
  • Assess workflow processes to recommend and implement procedural and system enhancements aimed at increasing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Review financial and accounting records for discrepancies and rectify as necessary.
  • Conduct research on technical and financial transactions, reviewing and investigating financial records to resolve issues in accordance with established policies and best practices.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies to identify opportunities for automating accounting processes while maintaining accuracy and accountability.
  • Play a crucial role in system and process implementation projects as required.

Process Improvement Focus

  • Identify inefficiencies in processes before they escalate.
  • Enhance data reporting and the accuracy of records over time.
  • Drive continuous process improvements within the accounting function.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Comprehensive understanding of full-cycle accounting and its integration within the broader business and finance processes.
  • Experience managing large volumes of data and unstructured working papers, with the ability to summarize, analyze, and present information succinctly.
  • Proficiency in reconciling all ledger accounts, particularly those that have remained unreconciled for extended periods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to draft routine correspondence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, allowing for professional interactions with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical capabilities to ensure the accuracy of deliverables.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficient presentation abilities.
  • Experience processing transactions in multiple currencies.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing assignments to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Proven history of enhancing process efficiencies and resolving issues.
  • Ability to foster a positive team environment through teamwork and open communication.

Hard Requirements

  • Canadian CPA is mandatory.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualifications such as CA, ACCA, etc., are highly regarded.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar role within accounting or finance.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Excel.
  • Familiarity with G-Suite applications.
  • Experience working with multiple legal entities.
  • Knowledge of audit and financial reporting requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with integrating subsidiaries and financial statement consolidation.
  • Background in public accounting firms is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in the SaaS or recurring revenue industry.
  • Familiarity with Great Plains Financials and/or Netsuite is a plus.
  • Experience with Google Suite tools (Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc.) is beneficial.
