Recreational Therapist Role

We are seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team at BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services. As a Recreational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic recreation programs and services to patients in our Maximum and Multi-Level Security Units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patient's current level of recreation functioning and develop individualized recreation plans to meet their needs.
  • Plan, develop, and implement therapeutic recreation programs and services, including group and individual activities, to promote patient engagement and well-being.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and support.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate records of recreation therapy services provided.
  • Participate in community meetings and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to promote patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Recreation Therapy from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Two (2) years recent related experience working in a psychiatric setting with individuals who have complex mental health and addictions issues.
  • Eligible for membership in the British Columbia Therapeutic Recreation Association.
  • Valid BC Drivers License.
