Experienced Crane Operator/Rigger Wanted

We are in search of a Certified Crane Operator and Rigger to become a vital part of our Services Department. This position plays a key role in guaranteeing the safe and effective functioning of various cranes and rigging apparatus within our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate mobile cranes with capacities reaching up to 80 tons, along with tower cranes and the 300-ton Goliath Gantry Crane, referred to as 'Big Blue'.
  • Conduct Rigging Operations utilizing all crane types, including hand rigging and other tasks assigned to the rigging team.
  • Perform thorough pre-operational inspections, including hazard assessments, determining necessary rigging for tasks, and calculating weights to prepare for hoisting operations.
  • Adhere to Seaspan's Policies, Regulations, and Procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Department as needed to assist with preventative maintenance on lifting equipment.
  • Represent the Rigging Department when collaborating with other trade groups.
  • Maintain punctuality regarding shift start times, breaks, and end of shift, unless overtime is required.
  • Participate in Pre & Post Shift Tool-Box meetings to ensure clear communication and safety awareness.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Red Seal Crane Operator certification, with tickets for mobile cranes, tower cranes, and overhead cranes.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience operating various cranes in an industrial setting.
  • At least 5 years' experience in rigging within an industrial environment.
  • Aerial Work Platform Ticket and Fall Arrest Certification are considered advantageous.
  • Forklift and Telehandler (Zoom Boom) Tickets are also beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with team members.
  • Capability to remain focused on assigned tasks and demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of the operations and limitations of departmental equipment.
