We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist I to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre.
About the Role:The Respiratory Therapist I provides routine and intensive cardio-respiratory care to patients in accordance with established policies, procedures, clinical pathways, and professional standards. This role supports the NICU's interdisciplinary team with respiratory therapy expertise, ensuring the best possible patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide exemplary patient care through case review and physical assessment, recommending plans of care and documenting patient responses and outcomes.
- Operate respiratory equipment for patient care, including initial setup, ongoing quality control procedures, and initiating adjustments as required.
- Support patient care for individuals who are ventilator-dependent, assessing and monitoring to meet care protocols and daily care plans.
- Recommend and administer individualized medical gas therapies for patients.
- Provide invasive and non-invasive cardio-pulmonary monitoring.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
- Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care examination.
- Current and continuing registration with the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT) and the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT).
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.
