Position Overview
As a key member of the Government of Northwest Territories, the Facility Maintenance and Security Associate is tasked with ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of various campus facilities. Reporting directly to the Student Housing and Recreation Officer, this role is vital for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct regular cleaning and maintenance of campus buildings, including administrative offices, student residences, and other designated areas.
- Perform routine inspections to identify safety or security concerns, promptly reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Utilize check-lists provided by the Student Housing and Recreation Officer to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Engage in proactive measures to uphold the health and safety standards for students, staff, and visitors.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Familiarity with campus policies and procedures related to facility operations and maintenance.
- Proficient in the use of standard cleaning products and equipment.
- Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to instruct others on the safe and proper use of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Physical capability to lift and move items weighing between 50-75 pounds.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Skill in assessing situations and determining appropriate responses.
Experience Requirements
- Previous experience in a custodial, maintenance, or security role is preferred.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license.
This position plays a crucial role in supporting the overall mission of the Government of Northwest Territories by ensuring that facilities are well-maintained and secure.
