Position Summary

We are in search of a Lead Estimator to enhance our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful bidding and execution of large-scale marine construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee estimating teams to analyze project plans and specifications, prepare bids, select subcontractors, and assess cost-effectiveness.
  2. Manage risk and contract-related tasks as necessary.
  3. Evaluate design alternatives and recommend optimal solutions based on cost, engineering feasibility, and material availability.
  4. Guide the estimating team through client addenda and modifications during the estimation process.
  5. Compare historical costs with current projections to ensure accuracy.
  6. Provide insights on the overall construction strategy, including scheduling, constructability, and logistics, and their implications on project costs.
  7. Assess and offer feedback on modifications in specifications, plans, construction techniques, and materials.
  8. Ensure compliance of all estimates with applicable codes, project specifications, blueprints, and standards.
  9. Review and finalize estimates before submission.
  10. Manage awarded contracts, including estimating additional work items and advising on significant scope changes.
  11. Conduct post-project evaluations with estimating, engineering, and production teams to identify successes and gather insights.
  12. Monitor actual expenditures against estimated costs to maintain budgetary control.
  13. Commit to upholding Health, Safety, and Environmental standards throughout all projects.
Qualifications
  1. A minimum of 12 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a strong record of successfully bidding on and securing large projects.
  2. Experience in marine construction (e.g., piers, bridges, docks, berths, dredging) is highly advantageous.
  3. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  4. Proficiency in software tools such as Excel, HeavyBid, AutoCAD, and MS Project.

Salary Range: $140,000 - $180,000
