Position Overview:

This role is not remote and requires on-site presence.

Important Note:
Candidate will be expected to work rotating shifts, including weekends, covering both day and night hours.

Under the supervision of the Quality Supervisor, the Quality Specialist I will be tasked with conducting both scheduled and unscheduled quality evaluations, inspections, and testing of products. This includes audits of the facility and equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturing objectives, food safety protocols, quality standards, customer expectations, and regulatory mandates.

The Quality Specialist will be assigned to rotate through Continental shifts.

This position may require covering for team members on leave, which could involve adjusting shifts to support the Quality Team.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly inspect manufacturing lines to verify documentation and testing performed by production staff, adhering to internal protocols to authorize product release.

Documentation includes:
HACCP records, GMP records, net content control, hold and release documentation, specifications, and traceability records.

  • Collaborate with operators and the Production Supervisor to identify, escalate, and rectify any deviations in quality or food safety during inspections.
  • Complete and archive checklists with findings from the shift.
  • Conduct spot checks on products in storage or returned goods.
  • Test metal detectors and checkweighers to confirm proper functionality.
  • Verify incoming packaging materials against established specifications.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor.
  • Utilize the internal database to access current forms and work instructions.
Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate should be a dependable self-starter capable of working autonomously.
  • Possess a Diploma, Degree, or Certificate in Quality Assurance.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance is preferred.
  • Background in the Food Manufacturing sector is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Quality Systems such as HACCP, ISO, FSSC, etc., is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong communication abilities with proficient reading and writing skills in English.
  • Demonstrated interest in quality assurance and strong observational skills.
  • A genuine eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Exhibit reliability, excellent attendance, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive attitude.

Job-Specific Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to operate in a manufacturing environment with varying noise levels and temperatures, requiring personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, earplugs, hairnets, and safety glasses.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced work setting and perform defined physical activities (walking long distances and climbing stairs multiple times daily).
