Opportunity Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Education Assistant to support our initiatives aimed at assisting refugee and immigrant children. This role involves collaborating with senior educators to provide a nurturing environment while parents and guardians engage in community programming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support senior staff in supervising children during various activities, including indoor and outdoor play, as well as rest periods;
  • Assist in conducting engaging activities such as storytelling, singing, and facilitating discussions under the guidance of senior staff;
  • Participate in the planning and execution of developmentally appropriate programs and activities;
  • Remain attentive and responsive to the needs of children at all times;
  • Promote a safe, caring, and positive learning atmosphere;
  • Ensure the safety and hygiene of all children;
  • Report any instances of child neglect or abuse to the supervisor immediately.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 and currently enrolled in an Early Childhood Education Certificate program or completing necessary work experience for licensing;
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working with children in a group childcare environment;
  • Experience in multicultural or cross-cultural settings;
  • Ability to understand developmental milestones and be sensitive to the needs of young children;
  • Strong communication skills with staff, children, and parents/caregivers;
  • Standard first aid and CPR training are advantageous.

A Criminal Record Check is a prerequisite for employment.
