Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Enterprise Risk Management Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance team at Beutel, Goodman & Company Ltd. The successful candidate will play a critical role in identifying, managing, and monitoring risks to the firm.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Management

  • Perform risk identification and assessment activities as part of ongoing processes and changes to products, services, and projects.
  • Assess risk issues and events to determine risk categorization and materiality, mitigation actions, and opportunities for process and control enhancements.
  • Liaise with business partners when assessing and mitigating risks, implementing process and controls improvements, and validating risk mitigation success.
  • Manage risk infrastructure, including risk categories, risk register, issue tracker, guidelines, and other related tools.

Reporting

  • Source, transform, analyze, and report on information from various sources, including financial performance, cybersecurity, sales activities, and operational activities.
  • Develop, enhance, and assess risk and performance metrics to identify risk trends and opportunities.
  • Highlight areas of concern and improvement.

Internal Reviews

  • Execute reviews of specific functional areas, including assessing compliance with internal policy, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, with a focus on process and controls enhancement.
  • Articulate findings, insights, and actionable recommendations for improvement, including supporting remediation actions and validating remediation success.

Other Responsibilities

  • Manage the third-party risk management process, including the entity and contract register, new third-party due diligence process, annual risk assessment, and mitigation.
  • Assist with managing risks pertaining to our investment process, including our investment philosophy and environmental, social, and governance processes and commitments.
  • Assist with policies, guidelines, awareness materials, and governance activities.
  • Assist with enterprise processes, such as business process continuity and incident response.

Requirements

  • Experience in risk management, internal audit, compliance, consulting, finance, or similar environments.
  • Ability to liaise with, negotiate, and influence business partners across the organization.
  • Excellent analytical skills in assessing multiple sources of information and performing computation tasks.
  • Strong presentation and reporting skills.
  • Ability to distill complex information into actionable insights.
  • Strong work ethics and diligence with handling confidential information.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills.
  • High accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude.
  • Completion of financial and/or securities-related courses preferred.
