The mission of Emory Medical Laboratory is to enhance health and healing by delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and innovative laboratory services that improve patient outcomes. We are in search of a certified Surgical Pathology Assistant who has graduated from an NAACLS Accredited PA Training Program . This role involves:
- Providing technical support to pathologists during surgical pathology and autopsy processes.
- Preparing, processing, examining, and assisting in the evaluation of tissue samples.
- Overseeing residents and optimizing workflow for maximum departmental efficiency.
- Initiating procedures to secure legal consent for necropsy.
- Instructing medical residents on the use of photographic equipment and techniques for standard dissections and autopsies.
- Assisting pathologists with autopsy cases as needed.
- Delivering data that indicates the presence of biohazards to ensure proper handling precautions are implemented.
- Performing other related responsibilities as required.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science, or certification obtained prior to 2003.
- Must hold PA (ASCP) certification or be eligible to obtain it within 18 months of employment.
