Position Overview:
Under the guidance of the Store Operator/Pharmacy Manager and the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for executing specific dispensing duties in accordance with provincial regulations and professional standards.
- Full-time position with a standard workweek.
- Typical working hours are Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispensing Duties:
The Pharmacy Technician will operate under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring all dispensing tasks comply with provincial regulations and professional standards.
- Receive and process written prescriptions from customers.
- Identify the required medication, select appropriate containers, and accurately measure or pour the medication.
- Label the prescription containers appropriately.
- Ensure that all medications and labels are verified and initialed by the supervising pharmacist.
- Regularly contact customers regarding unclaimed prescriptions.
Pharmacy Operations:
Perform additional tasks as directed by the pharmacy manager or staff pharmacists, including:
- Maintaining cleanliness and professionalism in all pharmacy areas.
- Ensuring adequate inventory of pharmacy supplies.
- Handling pharmacy phone inquiries, directing calls to pharmacists as necessary.
- Referring all inquiries regarding prescriptions, drug information, and other sensitive matters to a pharmacist.
- Assisting with billing processes.
- Managing the schedule for expired pharmaceuticals.
- Supporting inventory management and organization of pharmaceutical orders.
- Keeping informational materials readily available for customers.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Preference will be given to candidates with retail pharmacy experience.
- Experience with Kroll software is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail are essential.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues.
- Due to the sensitive nature of this role, a Criminal Record Check is required for the successful candidate.
