About the Role

The Swim Instructor/Lifeguard plays a vital role in delivering quality leisure programs and ensuring the safety of our military members and their families.

Our services are designed to support families with the challenges they face due to military life, making the most of everyday activities like swimming and fitness.

As a Swim Instructor/Lifeguard, you will prepare and deliver swimming lessons, supervise pool users, and enforce safety rules.

You will also teach participants how to swim, design activities for specific groups, and motivate students to reach their full potential.

We are seeking dynamic, independent, and motivated individuals to join our team and help us ensure recreation stays safe and fun.

Key Responsibilities

Education, Certifications and Licenses

An acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience

Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification

Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification

Current recognized Swim Instructor certification

HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development or HIGH FIVE Sport (successful completion by end of probation)

HIGH FIVE Healthy Minds for Healthy Children (successful completion by end of probation)

Experience

In dealing with the public, including children

In performing lifeguard duties

In the implementation of training and practice sessions

In the development and implementation of individual training plans

In cash handling

Competencies, Skills and Abilities

Observational skills

Communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to react and respond in emergency situations

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork, and leadership

Language Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check

PSP: Contribute to the operational readiness of our Canadian Armed Forces through the provision of fitness, sports, recreation, and health promotion programs

Personnel Support Programs contributes to the operational readiness of our Canadian Armed Forces through the provision of fitness, sports, recreation, and health promotion programs to military communities across Canada and members while on deployment
