STARTING SALARY: $1,018.50 per week

JOB TYPE: Union

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Under the supervision of the Manager, Admin Services & Elections, this role provides essential administrative assistance related to the assessment, oversight, and issuance of municipal stationary business licenses in accordance with the Licensing By-Law.

  • Addresses inquiries concerning stationary business licensing, ensuring that any complaints are directed to the relevant department or external agency.
  • Prepares and distributes application packages as part of the annual licensing renewal process.
  • Accepts and processes license applications and associated fees.
  • Generates licenses and related documentation for distribution.
  • Maintains accurate licensing records for each licensee, including data entry and filing duties.
  • Collaborates with various agencies and both internal and external enforcement authorities to uphold licensee compliance.
  • Conducts daily financial transactions, including payments, refunds, and bank deposits, while generating necessary statistics.
  • Delivers customer service related to operations within the City Clerk's Office, including the preparation of death registrations and marriage licenses.
  • Provides front counter support for the City Clerk's Office as needed.
  • Assists during municipal elections and by-elections.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Completion of High School (Grade) 12 plus an additional program of up to one (1) year in Business Administration, Office Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years and up to four (4) years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office and related software applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on customer service.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

**Various assessments may be conducted as part of the selection process.

Interview: The recruitment process may utilize video conferencing technology.

Candidates who do not meet the educational qualifications but possess relevant experience may still be considered.
