Position Overview
- We are looking for a Senior Underwriting Specialist to enhance our Underwriting team.
- This role is part of a unionized environment and offers hourly compensation with regular wage increases as per the Collective Agreement.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Assistant Manager, Underwriting, the incumbent will:
- Evaluate new business prospects, renewal applications, and contract modifications for both potential and existing clients, ensuring compliance with established Level 3 criteria.
- Interpret and assess contracts, determining eligibility and risk based on various underwriting factors.
- Identify potential declines, calculate rates, and prepare comprehensive proposal and renewal documentation.
- Engage in inter-departmental reviews and prepare tailored reports for clients, highlighting underwriting options to manage costs effectively.
- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance underwriting processes and improve service delivery.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant group underwriting experience, including at least 2 years in a Level 2 Underwriter or equivalent role.
- A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as business, finance, or mathematics.
- Completion of CEBS or equivalent professional designation.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel and intermediate Word skills.
