About the Role:
The Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC) Addictions and Mental Health Program is a dynamic multidisciplinary team that provides high-quality care to patients in crisis. As a Registered Nurse in Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES), you will work collaboratively with an interprofessional team to deliver acute psychiatric care to patients presenting in crisis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct bedside care to patients awaiting an inpatient bed or assessment by PES or ED
- Conduct holistic assessments to determine level of illness and risk
- Make recommendations to Emergency Physicians and Psychiatrists regarding the plan of care
- Collaborate with services and organize referrals to community services or admission to inpatient units based on client need
Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Nursing experience in an acute care setting
- Knowledge of Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone
- Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques
