Information Technology Services (ITS) at Saskatchewan Polytechnic is seeking a skilled Network Infrastructure Specialist to join our team.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining and optimizing the institution's complex network infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure connectivity for students, faculty, and staff across all campuses.

As a specialist in network optimization, data communication needs, and network security protocols, you will collaborate closely with other ITS teams to support business operations and ensure seamless connectivity across all networked systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Staying abreast of industry best practices, standards, and emerging technologies in the field of networking.
  • Designing, implementing, supporting, and continuously improving wired and wireless network solutions to meet evolving needs.
  • Ensuring optimal internet access and availability for all users.
  • Managing WAN/LAN configuration, utilization, and access, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Applying network protocols, architectures, and designs within a complex enterprise environment.
  • Acquiring, installing, configuring, and operating network infrastructure devices such as switches, cabling, routers, firewalls, beacons, and wireless access points.
  • Designing, implementing, and monitoring robust network security measures, including firewalls, encryption, access control, and segmentation to protect sensitive data.
  • Proactively monitoring network performance using specialized tools to identify and resolve connectivity issues, performance bottlenecks, and potential failures.
  • Providing exceptional customer service within academic and administrative settings, addressing user inquiries and resolving technical issues effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Two-year diploma in Information Technology (foreign education must have Canadian equivalency certification).
  • Five years of progressive experience within an enterprise information technology environment specializing in networking or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of networking protocols, devices, tools, and wireless technologies.
  • Proven technical expertise in network design, configuration, implementation, monitoring, and support.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and users.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A customer-focused approach with a commitment to providing high-quality service.
  • Demonstrated ability to value diversity and foster an inclusive work environment.
