Job Title: Financial Analyst - Co-op Position

Job Summary:

The Segregated Funds' Financial Management team within Group Retirement Services Finance is responsible for the daily valuation, accounting control, and financial reporting for over 500 Segregated Funds.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Preparation of year-end tax and financial statement reporting for SFFM, including reconciling tax information provided by the fund manager to the distribution amounts recorded on the sub-ledger.
  2. Preparation of over 200 segregated fund financial statements through the use of an Excel template.
  3. Perform other year-end tax and financial statement functions.
  4. Provide assistance with monthly and quarterly reporting requirements as time permits.

Requirements:

  1. Working towards a post-secondary degree in business.
  2. Completion of at least 2 years of a post-secondary business degree program with an intention to pursue the CPA designation.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  4. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Self-motivated and adaptable.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel.

About the Role:

This role will provide the student with knowledge of segregated funds within an insurance company and exposure to preparing IFRS financial statements and notes within the segregated funds' annual report and reconciliations.

Working Environment:

This role will be based in a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
