About The Position

DoorDash is on a mission to create the most dependable on-demand logistics platform for delivery services. As we continue to expand our Engineering teams worldwide, we are in search of Backend Engineers to design and uphold a large-scale, round-the-clock global infrastructure that supports DoorDash's unique marketplace connecting Consumers, Merchants, and Dashers.

We seek Backend Engineers for both Product and Product Platform teams. Engineers focused on Product will engage at the crossroads of product development and infrastructure, addressing critical business challenges with sophisticated technical solutions. You will manage our backend services and architecture that enable all product features, requiring a holistic perspective—collaborating across teams while assessing and executing trade-offs to enhance the company's business outcomes.

This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring some in-office presence, and will report to an Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, launch, and maintain large-scale web applications
  • Establish and refine the backend architecture and technology stack for specific product areas
  • Enhance performance, reliability, scalability, and security of our backend systems
  • Participate in the transition from a monolithic codebase to a microservices architecture
  • Revolutionize logistics by addressing cutting-edge technical challenges
Qualifications
  • B.S., M.S., or PhD in Computer Science or a related field
  • Experience with backend technology stacks
  • Proficiency in analyzing and optimizing the efficiency, scalability, and stability of system resources
  • Familiarity with service-oriented architecture, REST API development, unit testing, and architectural design
  • Knowledge of contemporary web stacks and architecture (HTTP, REST)
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and related technologies (e.g., Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ)
