Role Summary

What is the opportunity?

As an IT Compliance Analyst focusing on SOX, you will play a crucial role in the evolution of RBC's Next Generation of SOX. Your primary responsibility will be to support the ongoing testing of SOX controls across the RBC Enterprise by evaluating IT-specific internal controls that contribute to the annual CEO / CFO SOX effectiveness certification. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into RBC's diverse products, services, and platforms, enhancing your control testing skills and critical thinking abilities by identifying innovative solutions.

RBC Internal Audit provides a distinct perspective by integrating insights across the entire organization, delivering valuable guidance that not only assures compliance but also reveals broader opportunities, connects insights, establishes best practices, and expands potential. We harness intelligence to safeguard and empower RBC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the execution of SOX IT control assessments, ensuring adherence to effective practices and producing quality documentation by evaluating the design and operational effectiveness of essential controls.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the control environment, analyze data, conduct testing, and formulate recommendations to be communicated to business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively with business partners to foster innovation in service delivery by identifying opportunities, developing solutions, and implementing sustainable performance enhancements.
  • Develop insights into IT risks associated with proprietary technologies within the supported platform, utilizing this knowledge to pinpoint key risks and controls in the operational environment.
  • Receive ongoing mentorship from colleagues, including senior leaders within Internal Audit, who will support your professional growth and help you achieve your career aspirations. Build long-term relationships and networks both internally and externally.

Qualifications for Success

Essential Requirements

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and foster an inclusive environment with internal and external business partners across the organization.
  • Adaptable mindset with a quick learning ability, capable of leveraging skills in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Commerce, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science).
  • Fundamental knowledge of control testing methodologies, risk management, regulatory/compliance principles, and/or auditing principles, as demonstrated by relevant courses or certifications.
  • 1-2 years of pertinent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CISA or CPA designation, or equivalent accounting/audit designation, or willingness to obtain during employment.
  • Experience within a financial institution, external audit firm, or technology company, engaging with multiple business platforms, processes, geographies, and legal entities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to leadership and promoting collaboration and teamwork.
