Job Summary:

Watson Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist Lead to join our team. As a Medical Technologist Lead, you will be responsible for assisting the Laboratory Supervisor in the daily efficient operation of the lab, performing duties consistent with written procedures and regulatory requirements, and applying theoretical concepts of laboratory medicine using independent judgment to ensure timely and accurate results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform accurate laboratory testing as ordered by the clinician, producing results in a timely manner, and assist the supervisor in the observance and documentation of quality assurance monitors to produce timely reports meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Perform and understand quality control programs, including evaluation of values, documentation of errors, and corrective action, and assist the supervisor with monthly quality control review and submission to vendor for peer group analysis.
  • Perform and record scheduled equipment maintenance, troubleshoot equipment problems, and provide technical support to laboratory staff and clinicians, resolving problems as they arise and keeping the Regional Laboratory Supervisor informed of such situations.
  • Perform all routine and complex tests as ordered by the clinician, recognize and follow critical results procedure, and review all worksheet documentation monthly.
  • Operate the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other computer-related programs proficiently, actively participate in all upgrades, and assist the supervisor in developing and updating procedure manuals.
  • Perform proficiency testing per scheduled rotation, assist the supervisor in submitting results accurately and timely, and provide appropriate documentation of corrective action for results outside of acceptable limits.

Requirements:

  • Active State of Florida license as a Medical Technologist with licensure in the following specialties: Hematology, Chemistry, Serology, Microbiology, Molecular Pathology.
  • Registry with either ASCP or AAB preferred.
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related Science degree along with the successful completion of an approved formal training program in Medical Technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a clinical laboratory setting involving the analysis of blood, tissue, and body fluids utilizing automated equipment and specialized instrumentation while performing numerous complicated tests simultaneously and accurately interpreting the results.
