About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing our data infrastructure, ensuring that our data is accurate, reliable, and secure. You will work closely with our data science and analytics teams to develop and maintain our data pipelines, and collaborate with our business stakeholders to ensure that our data meets their needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Infrastructure Design: Design and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines using Snowflake, AWS, and Databricks.
- Problem-Solving: Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to devise elegant solutions for complex data challenges.
- Data Stewardship: Implement encryption, access controls, and compliance measures to safeguard data, and contribute to defining the organization's Data Governance framework.
- Performance Optimization: Fine-tune queries, indexing, and ETL processes to transform raw data into actionable insights with maximum efficiency.
- AI Enablement: Manage, prepare, and structure data to support ingestion by machine learning models, enabling our AI initiatives.
- Culture of Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement, automation, and efficiency across data teams, and mentor team members and drive knowledge sharing throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Data Architecture: Proven expertise in designing and implementing scalable data architectures, with a strong focus on data lakes and data warehouses, particularly using Snowflake and Redshift.
- ETL and Data Pipelines: Proven experience in building and optimizing ETL pipelines using tools like Airflow, NiFi, or custom Python scripts.
- Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with cloud services such as AWS (S3, EC2, EMR), Azure (Blob Storage, Databricks), or Google Cloud (BigQuery, Dataflow).
- Data Governance: Deep knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices, and experience in implementing data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance measures.
- Programming and Optimization: Advanced proficiency in Python for scripting and data analysis, SQL for querying and optimization, and optionally Scala or Java for big data processing frameworks like Spark.
- Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders.
