Position Summary:

We are seeking a qualified on-call physician to oversee clinical care in our Long-Term Care facility, which comprises 33 resident beds. This role involves collaboration with our Medical Director and Nurse Practitioner to ensure comprehensive care delivery.

  • The physician will conduct weekly visits to provide medical attention to assigned residents;
  • Assess and manage both acute and chronic health conditions while ensuring accurate and timely documentation;
  • Recognize when palliative or end-of-life care is necessary, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to support residents and their families;
  • Work cohesively with the medical director and other team members to maintain the highest standards of resident care;
  • Regularly review medications and update residents' health records accordingly;
  • Participate in after-hours on-call duties;
  • Engage in ongoing education related to long-term care, geriatric care, palliative care, and dementia;
  • Contribute to physician peer review initiatives aimed at enhancing resident care.

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Must possess a valid license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in a Long-Term Care environment is advantageous.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007, and related regulations, including the Resident Quality Inspection Process;
  • Proven leadership capabilities and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
