About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Chief to support the delivery of the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT Project. As a key member of our Critical Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for conducting construction layout and engineering survey services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct topographic surveys, engineering surveys, and as-built surveys to ensure accurate data collection and measurement.
- Oversee the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of conventional and GPS survey equipment to ensure efficient and accurate data collection.
- Collaborate with project managers to complete field reports, interpret construction drawings, and specifications, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of municipal engineering and land development projects, including sewer, water main, dirt survey, earthworks, and road construction materials, methods, and processes.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices, and contribute to the development of new procedures and processes to improve survey operations.
Requirements
- 8 years' experience in surveys, with a minimum of 2 years' construction surveying experience.
- Experience with operating robotic total stations, Windows-based data collectors, GNSS technology, and other data collection technologies.
- Strong understanding of municipal engineering and land development projects, including sewer, water main, dirt survey, earthworks, and road construction materials, methods, and processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license, with a clean abstract.
- Valid applicable safety tickets (Confined Space, Fall Protection, Aerial Lift) an asset.
