We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager of Accounting to join our team at BC Legal Management Association. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for leading the accounting function and ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and oversee the daily operations of the accounting functions and team, including processing and recording Trust, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Collections transactions.
- Process Staff Payroll and generate and process bills and invoices.
- Reconcile bank statements and accounts, manage and maintain financial records, and monitor cash flow.
- Coordinate tax preparation and financial audits, generate and analyze financial reports, and prepare payment of Law Society reports and premiums.
- Supervise and train accounting clerks, advise management team on accounting best practices, and ensure compliance with financial reporting obligations and Law Society rules.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in a general accounting role.
- 5+ years of experience working within a Canadian law firm.
- Proven ability to lead accounting function independently.
- Completion of post-secondary education in a related field.
- Canadian accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) is a definitive asset.
- Experience working with ESILAW 360.
- Superb communication skills with proven ability to interact tactfully and be personable.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
The starting range for this role is $120,000-150,000/year. Starting salary will be determined based on the applicant's individual skills, competencies, and unique qualifications. BC Legal Management Association's employees have the potential to exceed this range based on tenure and performance.
