Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to join our team at McCain Foods. As a key member of our maintenance leadership team, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our 1st Class powerhouse, including ammonia and refrigeration systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise the maintenance of our powerhouse, including refrigeration and steam systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to tradespeople to ensure the reliability of our boiler and refrigeration systems.
  • Oversee the supervision of contracted services within the factory as required.
  • Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives, including problem-solving and troubleshooting opportunities.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities, including budget control and task/time scheduling using relevant software and electronic reports.
  • Supervise and manage the overall operation of the department.
  • Assist factory teams in developing areas of opportunity and ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Coach and mentor plant associates on change management and driving/sustaining positive business practices and tool applications on the shop floor.
  • Prepare shift schedules and oversee associate training.
  • Liaise with corporate support for project management initiatives.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement process, including process improvement initiatives, employee training, and upgrading your current skill base.
  • Support and identify training opportunities/activities for the Maintenance Department.
  • Complete and submit required reports in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • 1st Class Power Engineers Certificate.
  • 5 to 10 years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to people at all levels of the business.
  • Ability to motivate yourself and others to achieve personal and departmental objectives.
  • Ability to prioritize work, demonstrate flexibility, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Can make sound judgments and decisions when dealing with complex issues in high-pressure situations.
  • Assertive, decisive, and results-driven.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced experience leading, coaching, and influencing others.
