The Financial Planning Analyst will join the Financial Planning & Analysis division, engaging in the organization and formulation of the yearly budget and ongoing forecasts for all properties managed by CAPREIT. This role will collaborate closely with both regional and corporate finance teams to perform quantitative assessments that deliver valuable insights to essential stakeholders. Additional duties encompass managing financial databases and generating system reports and dashboards.

Key Responsibilities:

Budget Management and Forecasting:

  • Facilitate the development of consolidated budgets and regular forecasts by partnering with corporate and regional stakeholders to guarantee precise and timely submissions.
  • Analyze business drivers and key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance budget and forecast presentations for senior management.
  • Construct financial models to assist in valuations and forecasting processes.
  • Address inquiries and challenges that arise during budgeting, month-end reporting, and continuous analysis.

Special Initiatives:

  • Develop financial templates and internal metrics that aid in business decision-making.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and financial modeling for mergers, acquisitions, and development projects.
  • Execute due diligence on business models presented by external entities.
  • Undertake ad hoc tasks as directed by senior management.

Financial System Oversight:

  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of financial data within databases.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements, including the creation of standard and custom reports, along with dashboards.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of pertinent work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Actively pursuing the CPA designation (CAPREIT qualifies as an approved training office, and this position meets CPA experience requirements).
  • Previous experience with SAP, ERP, BPC, and BI tools is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to create accurate, concise, and clear data presentations that support data-driven business decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven capability to manage large datasets with solid quantitative skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
