Job Description

This is a senior leadership role in cyber security at Canonical, responsible for managing the Security Operations (SecOps) team. The team is responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving Canonical's security practices, techniques, tools, systems, and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the SecOps team to ensure the security and integrity of Canonical's infrastructure and product deployments.
  • Design and implement technical security controls to identify, contain, and remediate security threats.
  • Contribute to the development of Canonical's product security, improving the resilience and robustness of Ubuntu customers and users.
  • Collaborate with the Organisational Learning and Development team to develop playbooks and facilitate SecOps training.
  • Lead initiatives to integrate the team's insights into Canonical's broader software development process.
Requirements
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with a range of open source and proprietary security tooling and practices.
  • Ability to lead by example, contribute at the highest level, and assess work based on professional experience and skill.
  • Excellent business English writing and presentation skills.
  • Confidence to report security performance metrics with accountability for accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience in offensive or defensive security teams with hands-on ability.
  • Experience with open source security tools, security standards, and security posture management.
