About the Role

Laporte Consultants is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Calgary or Lethbridge. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing electrical systems for various industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical Engineering Design
    • Design medium and low voltage distribution systems
    • Develop emergency backup systems, including ATS, generators, and UPS
    • Implement grounding and fire alarm systems
    • Design lighting and lighting control systems
  • Power System Engineering
    • Model power systems using SKM and ETAP software
    • Conduct engineering studies, including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and coordination
  • Load Control Engineering
    • Design motor control centers and motor schematics
    • Implement variable frequency drives and soft starters
  • Process Control and Control System Engineering
    • Develop P&ID and control narratives
    • Design instrumentation and I/O lists
    • Implement process control panels and networks
  • Project Engineering
    • Manage projects from start to finish
    • Coordinate with utilities and other stakeholders
    • Develop design packages and equipment specifications
    • Conduct engineering field reviews and provide construction support
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience
    • 5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in consulting
  • Certifications
    • Current registration with the provincial engineering association (AB)
  • Skills
    • Strong technical skills in electrical engineering
    • Proficiency in CAD software and project management tools
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
